Done from a 1921 drawing, boys are shown playing marbles on the street and the background shows a view of the Hudson and the Palisades. The margins are full and the condition is fine. Frieda Lowinson was a prominent collector of Hassam prints and her stamp is on the verso (not in Lugt).

This is a superb impression of this extremely rare view of New York. The paper is a white wove sheet which was taken from a Hebrew Bible. (Text appears along the top edge horizontally.) The margins are full with the tack holes showing along the margin edges. Fine condition. This impression also bears the stamp of Frieda Lowinson, the New York collector (not in Lugt). Provenance: Kennedy Galleries, New York. (An impression of this print is in the Deering Collection at the Art Institute of Chicago and was also printed on a similar Bible page.)

Signed in pencil and inscribed, "proof selected for Mrs. Lowinson by Childe Hassam." Here we have a fine impression of this very rare print. The margins are small but appear to be full. The condition is very good other then for two small brown paper hinges at the top and a small, subtle smudge or stain below the signature. The Arsenal Building is one of two buildings to predate Central Park. It's located on 64th Street off of Fifth Avenue. It was built between 1847 and 1851. Mrs. Lowinson was a major collector of Hassam's work and her stamp is on the verso (not in Lugt).

The Broad Curtain
Lithotint, 1918, Griffith 29, edition 55. 10 3/4 x 14 3/4 in. Signed and dated on the stone, lower right. Signed in pencil in the lower right, as well. This is a superb impression of this large work printed on Japanese paper. The margins are probably full and the condition is very good. Hassam produced only forty-five lithographs, all of them during the 1917-1918 period. Of these, five were lithotints and they were drawn directly on the stone whereas the lithographs were drawn on transfer paper first. This exceptional print expresses the painterly potential of the lithotint medium and the subject is decidely Hassam at his best.

The condition is good apart from professionally reinforced splits along the plate mark on two sides, and, one repaired split from the upper right corner to the margin edge. The scene is the Bush- Holly House at Cos Cob, Ct. The model here is Miss Helen Burke. This structure was built in 1730 and is a National Historic Landmark. It was the center of activity for Connecticut's first Artist Colony.

The margins are full with tack holes showing on all sides. This house is where the author of the lyrics for the song lived as a child. His name was John Howard Payne. Childe Hassam can certainly be described as the quintessential American impressionist printmaker of the early 20th century. This is an outstanding example of his work as an etcher.
